The Department of School Education and Literacy is launching a National Mission to improve learning outcomes at the Elementary level through an Integrated Teacher Training Programme called NISHTHA – National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Samagra Shiksha  . This integrated programme aims to build the capacities of around 42 lakh participants covering all teachers and Heads of Schools at the elementary level in all Government schools, faculty members of State Councils of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs), District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) as well as officials and Resource Persons from Block Resource Centres (BRCs) and Cluster Resource Centres (CRCs) in all States and UTs. This training will be conducted directly by 33120 Key Resource Persons (KRPs) and State Resource Persons (SRP) identified by the State and UTs, who will in turn be trained by 120 National Resource Persons identified from National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Non-Government Organisations and UNICEF.

NISHTHA Teachers Training Schedule 2021 for TS Teachers
NISHTHA Teachers Training Schedule 2021 has been released the Telangana School Education Department for conducting the Teachers Training Programme in the name of NISHTHA. High End, Comprehensive, high-quality and Full fledged Understanding Training Programme would be conducted to all teachers for improving the quality of teaching in the school, along with modern technology. The program will be implemented nationwide.

What is NISHTHA? : NISHTHA is a capacity building program for “Improving Quality of School Education through Integrated Teacher Training”. It aims to build competencies among all the teachers and school Heads at the elementary stage covering and school Heads at the elementary stage covering 42 lakh teachers and School Heads in the country. Training is provided in an integrated manner on learning outcomes, school-based assessment, learner-centered pedagogy, new initiatives in education, addressing the diverse needs of children through multiple pedagogies, etc.

In this Programme, Teachers & SRGs to be trained in Telangana
Number of Teachers to be trained: 94,547
Number of SRG Teams required: 171
No. of members in each SRG : 6 (5 Subject[Language, Mathematics, EVS, Science, Social Science] teachers and 1 HM)
Total Number of Teachers to be trained as SRGs: 1026 (855+171)

NISHTHA Teachers Training Schedule
Training on the following items

District Level Training Plan: Each SRG consisting of 6 members (5 KRPs +1 SRPL) can train 150 teachers in each spell with 3 sections of 50 each. The teachers to be trained at the district level are Secondary Grade Teachers, HMs of Primary Schools, Secondary Grade Teachers, HMs of Primary Schools, School Assistants handling classes VI to VIII and Gazetted Head Masters of schools having classes VI to VIII.


Training shall be conducted in two categories
Category I: comprising of SGTs and Primary School HMs
Category II: comprising of School Assistants and GHMs

The Dates for the four spells of training at District Level are scheduled as shown below.

Selection of HMs and Teachers for training

 

  1. All Primary and High School HMs, SGTs who are now in position are taken in the given figures
  2. With regard to School Assistants, for the 6th, 7th, and 8th classes 3/5th of the SAs in position are taken.
  3. For selection, all SAs working in Upper Primary Schools are to be For selection all SAs working in Upper Primary Schools are to be covered.
  4. In case of further requirement to finish the figures approved teachers working in High Schools shall be selected.
  5. The details of all HMs, SGTs, and SAs identified for training are to be submitted to SCERT for onward submission to MHRD.
  6. The technical admin will now be trained by our RPs to compile the data for submission in .csv format and other website related works.

Venue for Training

  1. Training of multiple batches can be conducted in multiple venues.
  2. The venue shall be selected in consultation with the DEO and shall have all the facilities required for training
  3. Before proceeding with the selection of venue SOs may have a meeting with the SRG group and take the details of facilities to be provided at the venue. venue.
  4. One MEO / SL or Lecturer of DIET shall be kept in-charge of one venue.
  5. The SRPL of the SRG team shall be the co-ordinator and shall be the in-charge for the conduct of the sessions as per time table.
  6. The training is being conducted under Samagra Shiksha. Hence, financial norms for the training shall be as per Samagra Shiksha norms
  7. Documentation of the training sessions shall be done along with photos and the same shall be uploaded on the district website and forwarded to SCERT.

NISHTHA Teachers Training Guidelines

  1. The Teachers to be trained at District level are SGTs HMs of Primary Schools, School Assistants handling classes VI to VIII and GHMs of Schools having VI to VIII
  2. training shall be conducted in two categories
  3. Category I: comprising of SGTs abd Primary School HMs
  4. Category II : comprising of SAs and GHMs
  5. All HMs and Teachers selected for training should mandatorily have Gmail ID. Teachers who do not have Gmail ID, as on date may be intructed to create Gmail ID before the commencement of the District Level training sessions
  6. The details of the HMs and Teachers selected for the training should be sent on email at nishtha.tlg.ad1@gmail.com or nishtha.tlg.ad2@gmail.com by the district level technical team to the technical admin at state level in csv format in the proforma already circulated to the SOs for onward submission to MHRD, GOI
  7. The State level Technical Team will generate User ID and Passwords to all HMs and teachers, after which HMs and teachers can Login to the NISHTHA website

Instructions to Teacher Participants


NISHTHA Teachers Training Schedule and Day wise Programme Schedule – District level Training under NISHTHA For Teachers & School Heads at the Upper Primary Level (VI-VIII) 

The aim of this training is to motivate and equip teachers to encourage and foster critical thinking in students, handle diverse situations and act as first level counsellors.

They will be oriented on and develop their skills on various aspects related to Learning Outcomes, Competency Based Learning and Testing, Learner-centered Pedagogy, School Safety and Security, Personal-social qualities, Inclusive Education, ICT in teachinglearning including Artificial Intelligence, Health and well-being including yoga, Initiatives in School Education including library, eco club, youth club, kitchen garden, School Leadership qualities, Environmental Concerns, Pre-school, Pre-vocational Education and School Based Assessment in a joyful learning manner.

Quality training packages containing modules related to aforesaid areas have been developed by the NCERT and NIEPA. States and UTs can contextualize the training modules and use their own material and resource persons also, keeping in view the core topics and expected outcomes of NISHTHA.

This massive capacity building programme has been integrated with technology to ensure smooth facilitation, availability of digital content and technology enabled teaching methods to support the teachers. A Mobile App and Learning Management System (LMS) based on MOODLE (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) have been developed by NCERT (https://nishtha.ncert.gov.in/). LMS will be used for registration of Resource Persons and Teachers, dissemination of resources, training gap and impact analysis, monitoring, mentoring and measuring the progress online.

An important feature of this integrated training programme is the embedded post training interventions including provision of mentoring. After the completion of the training, the KRPs will be in touch with all the teachers through WhatsApp and Facebook Workplace groups etc and will form Quality Circles that will work to share ideas, challenges and their solutions and best practices. This will help in building pedagogical skills and connecting with peers, thereby creating a long term sustainable impact on classroom transactions.

These Guidelines has been prepared as a working document to disseminate information about the programme and its objectives, summarize the training modules and their expected outcomes and to facilitate the National Resource Groups, States and UTs to plan, conduct and monitor the training programme.

 

The main expected outcomes from NISHTHA are:
1) Improvement in learning outcomes of the students.
2) Creation of an enabling and enriching inclusive classroom environment
3) Teachers become alert and responsive to the social, emotional and psychological needs of students as first level counselors.
4) Teachers are trained to use Art as pedagogy leading to increased creativity and innovation among students.
5) Teachers are trained to develop and strengthen personal-social qualities of students for their holistic development.
6) Creation of healthy and safe school environment.
7) Integration of ICT in teaching learning and assessment.
8) Developing stress free School Based Assessment focused on development of learning competencies.
9) Teachers adopt Activity Based Learning and move away from rote learning to competency based learning.
10) Teachers and School heads become aware of new initiatives in school education.
11) Transformation of the Heads of Schools into providing academic and administrative leadership for the schools for fostering new initiatives.

NISHTHA Guidelines and Action Plan
National Resource Groups comprising of 15 Experts each will train Key Resource Persons (identified by the State and UT for further teacher training) and State Resource Person already trained by NIEPA (identified by the State and UT for further training of school heads and other functionaries). An exemplar methodology for selection of KRPs is at Annexure-I. The details on the number of KRPs and SRPs required for each state and UT is enclosed at Annexure-II. These KRPs and SRPs will directly train teachers and school heads. Therefore, the Master trainer layer has been eliminated. This will help in reducing the high percentage of communication loss that occurs due to many layers.

Expected Outcomes: 
The following quantifiable outcomes have been envisaged to be achieved after the completion of integrated teachers’ training:

  1. 100 % government elementary teachers will be trained.
  2. 100% Head Teachers, Head Masters, and Principals will be trained
  3. 100 % SCERT and DIET faculty will be trained.
  4. 100 % BRCCs and CRCCs will be trained

Topics covered and expected outcomes
There are total 12 modules for teachers and 5 modules for school heads, which are categorized below:

1) Generic Issues including ICT and Samagra Shiksha
2) School Based Assessment
3) Art Integrated Learning
4) Pedagogy of Subjects
5) Leadership Concerns

Structure of the Modules
Each module will have the following structure:
• Learning Objectives
• Brief introduction about the subject area
• Class specific Learning Outcomes in the subject area- An Overview
• A brief on the pedagogies to be used for achieving the learning outcomes
• Example of a whole chapter/theme (from NCERT Textbook)- transaction modalities focusing on

a) Introduction of the chapter/theme- linking Learner’s day to day experiences with the theme
b) Learning outcomes to be achieved through the theme/chapter (pedagogies preferred for achieving the learning outcomes)
c) Conduct of in-built activities using learner centered approach
d) Perspective of in-built evaluation
e) Examples should be such that show integration of general issues (diversity, values, etc.,) wherever appropriate.
f) Exercises – why different types of questions? Why some are open ended and divergent?
g) How to address issue of multilingualism if arise during the session/class?

Activities for the KRPs/Teachers
a) Make a classroom plan for transacting one or two themes/chapters from one or two textbooks (NCERT) linking it with learning outcomes.
b) Develop an activity, which will focus on enhancing gender sensitivity/inclusion/environmental sensitivity/scientific temper and integrating it with subject-specific theme.
