Memo.No.5164, Dated: 18-01-2021 in the reference of (1) U.O.No.8346/Ser.1/A1/2020, Dated.31.10.2020 of the Home (Ser.l) Department. and (2). From the Director of Medical Education, Hyderabad No.46363/MA/2020. dt:27.11.2020 To reduce the burden of medical bills on government employees, the State government has decided to reimburse part of the medical bills that the employees might have paid while getting treated for Covid-19 in private hospitals across the State. The Department of Medical Health has issued orders to reimburse Rs.1 lakh under Covid treatment to all government employees as well as retired employees . It applies to all employees, retirees and their family members who are hospitalized during emergencies. Department clarified that the treatment cost limit is not less than Rs.1,00,000/-. Accordingly, all the State government employees, including retired employees and their dependants, who were admitted as in-patient for Covid-19 treatment, are eligible for medical reimbursement claim.

In the reference 1st cited, the Home (Ser.I) Department have requested clarification on sanction of medical reimbursement claim for COVID-19 treatment for all State Government employees both serving as well as retired. In the reference 2nd cited, the Director of Medical Education, Hyderabad has furnished his remarks in the matter. After careful examination of the matter, it is clarified that at para 7 of amendments issued in G.O.Ms.No.105, HM&FW (K1) Department, Dtd.09.04.2007, it is mentioned that the State Government employees both in service and retired and their dependents and all other eligible categories are allowed to secure treatment under emergency cases.
Hence, all the State Government employees as well as retired employees and their dependents, who are admitted as in-patient for COVID-19 treatment are eligible for medical reimbursement claim, if they are admitted in the hospital in emergency condition. The ceiling limit for this treatment is limited to Rs.1,00,000/- (One lakh only).
All the Departments are requested to take action accordingly.
The ceiling limit for the Covid treatment, however, has been set for Rs 1 lakh, Principal Secretary, Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Telangana, S.A.M Rizvi in memo on Monday, said
In November 2020, Director of Medical Education (DME) Dr K Ramesh Reddy had written a letter to the State government to provide clarification on the issue of sanction of reimbursement to government employees who were treated for Covid-19 at private hospitals. It was clarified that all State government employees, retired employees and their dependants were eligible to avail the reimbursement of up to Rs 1 lakh.
“The decision will go a long way in helping government employees. Now, they can claim reimbursement for Covid treatment in all the recognised hospitals in the State,” says the DME. Every year, under Employee Health Scheme (EHS), the State government provides medical insurance for nearly 5.75 lakh government employees in TS.
