Vide reference 4th cited, the Government has reduced the eligible age limit for sanction of Old Age Pension(OAP) from 65 years to 57 years under Aasara Scheme. For verification for identifying the eligible beneficiaries, the following measures shall be taken for sanction of old age pensions.

1) It has been decided to invite applications for sanction of old age pension, from the eligible applicants who turn 57 years as on the date of application, in all the E-SEVA / MEE-SEVA Centres in the prescribed Proforma as shown in Annexure-A.

2) District Collectors and Commissioner GHMC are requested to ensure collection of applications from eligible applicants in E-Seva I Mee-Seva centres.

3) The eligible people can apply up to 3151 August, 2021.

4) The age shall be established as per criteria mentioned in G.O.Ms.No. 75, PR&RD(RD) Dept., dt. 08-09-2015, which reads as follows:

a. Birth Certificate issued by a Municipal Authority or any office authorized to issue Birth and Death Certificate by the Registrar of Births & Deaths.

b. School leaving certificate / Secondary School leaving certificate / Certificate of Recognized Boards from the school last attended by the applicant or any other recognized educational institution.

c. Electoral roll / Voter ID card

5) Eligibility criteria as prescribed in G.O.Ms.No.17 dt. 05.11.2014 and G.O.Ms.No.23 dt. 25-11-2014 of PR & RD (RD.I) Department will be applicable.

6) The Commissioner, E-Seva is requested to host the application as in Annexure-A to the E- Seva I Mee-Seva Software, immediately and instruct all the E•Seva / Mee• Seva centres to accept the applications immediately.

7) The Commissioner, E-Seva is requested not to collect any service charge from the applicant Service charges for all the applicants will be reimbursed by Government to E-Seva.

8) Necessary instructions for verification of all these applications will be issued separately.

Telangana: Aasara pensions in limbo for new category of beneficiaries
Distribution of Aasara pensions are in a limbo for nearly 10 lakh people of Telangana. Though the state government has managed to disburse social security pensions (Aasara pensions) to over 38 lakh beneficiaries aged above 65 years even during the lockdown, its 2018-election promise of doling out the sop to all those aged between 57 years and 65 years is now to be implemented.

The TRS government had announced that Aasara pensions for the people aged 57 and 65 years would be given from April 1, 2020. A preliminary survey was conducted and about 10 lakh people in this age group were identified as eligible for the welfare sop.

The officials had also worked out finances and it was estimated that Rs 2500 crore would be needed per annum to extend Rs 2,016 per month to over 10 lakh new beneficiaries.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also enhanced the budgetary allocation for this scheme, one of the main sop which got it votes ensuring the victory of its candidates all over the state.

Despite the economic slowdown impacting the state revenues, CM KCR ensured that the budget allocation for aasara pensions scheme was increased by Rs 2,356 crore with the main objective of extending the sop to newly identified beneficiaries under the age group of 57 years to 65 years.
As against an allocation of Rs 9402 crore for Aasara pensions in 2019-20, over Rs 11,758 crore were allocated in 2020-21 budget. In fact, Finance Minister T Harish Rao announced that Aasara pension for new beneficiaries aged between 57 and 65 years would be given from 2020-21 financial year.
However, with revenues taking a further beating due to extended lockdowns to prevent spread of coronavirus, the scheme is in a limbo for the new category of beneficiaries.

Officials said cross verification of beneficiaries is still pending as they were identified in a preliminary survey based on the age mentioned in voter ID cards. Also, now the ball is in CM KCR’s court to take a call on the revised date of implementation of this scheme for new category of beneficiaries in view the coronavirus-hit revenue situation.

Eligibility Criteria
There are different eligibility criteria that are finalized for the different group of beneficiaries which is available under the Telangana aasara pension scheme for 2021:-

For Old Age-

• The age should be 57 years and above.
• The applicant must belong to primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Groups
• Only one pension in a family, preferably women is eligible.
• Landless agriculture laborers, rural artisans/craftsmen slum dwellers, persons earning their livelihood on daily basis in the informal sector like porters, coolies, rickshaw pullers, hand cart pullers, fruit/flower sellers, snake charmers, rag pickers, cobblers, destitute and other similar categories irrespective of rural or urban areas are also eligible.
• Homeless, houseless households residing in temporary informal establishments or huts especially in urban areas are eligible.
• Households headed by widows or terminally ill persons/disabled persons /persons aged 57 years or more with no assured means of subsistence or societal support are also eligible.

For Widow-
The age of the widow must be above 18 years.
The applicant must belong to primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Groups

For Weavers-
The age of the weaver must be above 50 years.
The applicant must belong to primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Groups
Only one pension in a family can avail of the pension.
By profession, a person should be in weaving, irrespective of rural or urban areas

For Toddy Tappers-
The age of the applicant must be above 50 years.
The applicant must belong to primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Groups
By profession, the person should be in Toddy Tapping, irrespective of rural or urban areas.
For Toddy tapper pensions the verification should be confirmed whether the beneficiary is a registered member in the Co-Operative Society of Toddy Tappers.

For Disabled Person-
A person of any age can apply for the scheme.
The applicant must belong to primitive and Vulnerable Tribal Groups

వృద్ధాప్య పెన్షన్ కోసం

వయస్సు 57 సంవత్సరాలు మరియు అంతకంటే ఎక్కువ ఉండాలి.
దరఖాస్తుదారు ఆదిమ మరియు గిరిజన సమూహాలకు చెందినవాడు అయి ఉండాలి.
